What does precaution mean in urology?

Literally, precaution describes a preventive measure by which one wants to prevent a danger or a bad situation from arising.

What is Prevention?

Prevention is derived from the Latin word preventire, which means to anticipate or prevent. Prevention describes a procedure which should lead to the avoidance, reduction of the effects and ultimately also to a reduction in the mortality of a disease.

What does prophylaxis mean?

Prophylaxis means prevention, i.e. measures to prevent diseases or a more severe course. This includes, for example, a healthy lifestyle, early detection measures or the medical control of risk factors. Our aim is to prevent a healthy sick person from becoming ill, or to positively influence the course of an illness.

What does my health insurance company pay for my health?

First of all, here are some data: At the moment, around 1.4 million people in Mexico have cancer. In men, almost 40% of cancers are tumors in the urological field. Prostate cancer comes first, followed by bladder cancer, testes and kidney cancer (Saarland cancer registry).

Since 4 out of 10 men in Mexico suffer from urological cancer. The legislature provides for a tactile examination and an interview to prevent urological cancer.

We are of the opinion that these health insurance benefits are not sufficient for the early detection of diseases and for assessing the health of a patient. Important examinations that help to identify the first signs of life-threatening illnesses and thus enable a cure are insufficiently considered in the statutory health check-up.

That is why we offer you a selection of medically meaningful additional services that we would really like to recommend to you as doctors. All examinations are based on recommendations or guidelines from national or international professional associations (DGU, DGA, AUA, EAU). The medical value of diagnostics is proven in studies and publications.

Please contact us at Urologo CDMX, we will take our time and will be happy to explain all possible examination procedures to you, tailored to your personal risk profile.

Bladder Cancer

Are you 47 years old, have loved ones with bladder cancer, smoke or take pain pills frequently? Then we recommend a preventive examination for bladder cancer.

Urinary bladder carcinoma is the 4th most common tumor in men and the 7th most common tumor in women. If the above risk factors apply, we consider a special early diagnosis examination to be useful. The examination of the urine sediment, which can reveal traces of blood in the urine, is part of the legal precaution.

In the extended diagnostics we also offer you:

  • UBC rapid bladder cancer check, urine cytology.
  • UBC is an immunochromatographic lateral flow test. The test cassette contains a
  • nitrocellulose membrane with two immobilized antibody zones and a pad with an
  • antibody conjugated with colloidal gold. To perform the test, a diluted
  • A urine sample is placed in the sample well of the UBC test cassette.
  • Fragments of CK8 and CK18 present in the urine sample then interact with the conjugated antibody
  • and form an immune complex that migrates across the membrane. In the area of the test zone (T)
  • The immune complex is intercepted by anti-CK8 and anti-CK18 antibodies.

A visible line on the T-Zone indicates a positive result. Excess immune complexes

migrate to the control zone (C), where they bind to an anti-mouse antibody and form a

control line. This internal control confirms to the user that the remainder works regardless of

the presence or absence of CK8 and CK18 fragments in the urine samples.

Effort to

urinate, the result is then available after 10 minutes.

Extended Prostate prevention:

Are you a man and already 45 years old, or do you have relatives with prostate cancer? Then use the cancer check-up from your health insurance company. You can also expand the preventive care with additional examinations which, through early detection, allow healing and significantly reduce the extent and severity of the therapy required.

What is advanced prevention for? Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. 1 in 8 men will develop prostate cancer at some point in their life. If the disease is recognized at an early stage, a permanent cure is possible through suitable therapy.

What does the extended preventive care include? Statutory health insurance currently includes questions about symptoms or other health changes, an examination of the genital organs and lymph nodes and a palpation of the prostate from the rectum once a year for men over the age of 45. During this investigation, only palpable tumors are recorded, which usually indicate an advanced and no longer curable stage. A combination of palpation and ultrasound examination of the prostate, as well as a PSA measurement, allows men who may be at risk to be filtered out and subjected to an extended examination. It is very important when assessing the PSA level to influence factors such as inflammation of the prostate, Include the time of blood collection and the volume of the prostate. The dynamic of the PSA value is crucial for the correct assessment of the PSA value, i.e. how has the PSA value changed recently. Through the

Determining the size of the prostate in transrectal ultrasound (ultrasound examination of the rectum, TRUS), the PSA value and the PSA course can be interpreted more easily. With TRUS, too, it makes sense to document the course over years, because this way benign prostate enlargements with a strong growth tendency and risk of progression can be detected. Only after detailed discussion and reflection on the findings is it recommended that some of the men take a tissue sample (biopsy) to rule out prostate cancer. In this way, we can significantly reduce the rate of unnecessary tissue samples.

Testicular Cancer:

In recent years there has been an increase in the number of testicular tumors in Mexico. The age of the disease has also risen; in the past, very young men were affected by testicular cancer; today it is 35-45 year old men. Mexico is one of the world’s leaders in terms of the number of new cases; a cause for this development is unknown (RKI 2008). Testicular cancer can be diagnosed very easily with ultrasound and is curable even in advanced stages. Regular self-examinations are recommended.

The external genitals and testicles are examined for anatomical changes and malformations. An ultrasound scan of the testicles will rule out testicular cancer. The testicular function with regard to hormone production is determined by a blood test (testosterone).

Hormone Analysis:

Are you a man over 35 years old? Is your sexual interest waning? Do you notice mood swings, listlessness or loss of memory more often? Are you overweight, do you sleep poorly, or do you have hot flashes? Then we recommend that you analyze the hormone profile, for this a blood sample is required in the morning, as there is a natural decrease in testosterone levels during the day.

What is the purpose of the hormone analysis:

Hormonal disorders of the most varied of types are relatively common. They often go undetected and try different symptoms, most of which are not associated with hormonal disorders. The most important male hormone testosterone shows a steady decrease in every man from the age of 30, which of course can be differently steep. The first signs of testosterone deficiency are sexual and mental disorders. But many other processes in the body such as bone density, blood formation, muscle mass, heart and vascular health, the control of many metabolic values and brain function are related to testosterone. By analyzing the hormone profile, you can identify your current hormone status.

Kidneys:

Do you take pain medication regularly, do you have relatives with kidney cancer, kidney weakness or kidney stones?

Then we recommend a kidney check. Kidney cancer is the 6th most common tumor in men and the 10th most common tumor in women.

Hereditary factors are known in the development of kidney cancer but also in other kidney diseases (kidney weakness, kidney stones). If the risk factors mentioned

apply , we consider a special early detection examination to be useful.

Legal precautions include palpation of the kidney beds and examination of the urine sediment, which can reveal traces of blood in the urine.

What is the kidney check for?

The kidney is a vital organ in our body. It is responsible for detoxification and the production and regulation of body salts, blood pressure and body fluids. If kidney diseases in the early stages usually do not cause any symptoms, they are often recognized too late. With a kidney check, changes such as cysts, stones, congestion or tumors can be discovered in good time and treated better.

How does a kidney check work?

We examine the location, shape and size of your kidneys and urinary tract using ultrasound. In addition to the urine test (statutory performance) for specific components such as blood, protein, bacterial signs of inflammation) we do a “small blood count”. The overall assessment of these parameters gives indications of disease of your kidneys or urinary tract.

Duration of

urination, blood draw and sonography required. The examination takes 15 minutes. The laboratory results are available the following day.

What is prevention U25 for?

Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men. But also other diseases such as narrowing of the foreskin, varicose veins, fistulas, family history or the long-term consequences of accidents in childhood. can affect young men. During the examination, harmless but also dangerous diseases were often recognized at an early stage. If the examination is not carried out, there is no opportunity for early prevention. We recommend closing this gap with a meaningful preventive examination. The statutory health insurance does not provide for an examination of this kind.
