These days, stress and anxiety-related ailments are rampant in our world. Nearly 33% of people experience extreme stress, while 77% of people have reported feeling stress that affects their physical health. With the steady increase in work pressure as well as unhealthy lifestyle habits, how do we cope with stress? If you feel you’re almost crushed under a heavy burden every day, here are a few tips for you to cope with stress effectively.

  1. Go for a walk to Cope With Stress

Like it or not, walking daily can greatly help to reduce stress. When you walk or jog, the large groups of muscles in your body keep moving and keep you fit.

If you’re someone who loves aesthetics, aromatherapy might be a good option for you. It uses aromatic essential oils to make you feel relaxed and fresh. It also improves your overall mental and emotional well-being.

You can go to any aromatherapy centre for a massage session or make your own scented oils at home. Some of the very popular oils are lavender, rose, sandalwood, geranium, and orange blossom.

  1. Write a journal

Journaling really helps those whose minds keep having negative thoughts or vibes. When you write vigorously in your journal daily, you take out the negativity in your mind and put it on paper. This helps you to feel less stressed. A gratitude journal is also a popular kind of journaling where you write down whatever you are grateful for in life, no matter how big or small.

Make a list of all the positive things around you. Even something as tiny as “I bought myself a chocolate bar to feel happy” can be important. When you feel lost or confused, just look at this list and be proud of your achievements.

  1. Sing

Singing has been scientifically proven to reduce stress and strain. Scientists have discovered a tiny organ named sacculus in the ear. When you sing, this organ responds to the frequency of the sound waves, giving you an immediate sense of pleasure and happiness.

You don’t necessarily have to take singing classes or be perfect in every note you hit. Any kind of singing will do, as long as you enjoy singing the song or tune. If you’re a bathroom singer, don’t be shy to practice a little in front of the mirror or hum a tune when you’re doing chores.

  1. Say no

Many times, we tend to overburden ourselves by accepting extra shifts at work. Even when we know this extra amount of work or assignments can greatly impact our physical or mental health, we say yes in order to get that promotion or those extra marks from our teachers. But learning to say no is very important too.

You must understand how much burden you can handle without feeling crushed and when to refuse politely. Take control of the things you can do and learn to cut off the things you can’t. This will also improve your work performance immensely.
